| Here’s your FREE TIPS FOR HIRING THE RIGHT DJ If the DJ service you are considering cannot give you the name of your DJ and allow you to talk with your DJ before you sign your contract, take your event elsewhere! Has your DJ had any professional training? Does your DJ belong to any professional association? What qualifies the DJ to stake a claim as a professional DJ? How many weddings, class reunions or parties has your DJ done? We have done hundreds in the last 20+ years and have references to prove it! Finally ask if you are talking to a DJ. Many Internet services are really brokers or agents that will book your event at a very high price, then they will sell your job to the lowest bidder for half or less than what you are paying? | They are legal, but are they ethical? It's a question of integrity. Don't you deserve to know who you are doing business with? Here is the plain truth about the DJ business on the Internet. Some companies don't tell you the whole truth. Their sales people lead you to believe they have DJ's in their employ. The truth is most companies do not employ any DJ's. The company employs sales people who convince you to hire one of their DJ's. After you pay part or all of the fee, the company then sends an e-mail to dozens of DJ's in your area. The company begins offering as little as $200. If no one bites, the offer goes up until someone accepts. Your wedding reception entertainment in many cases is done by the independent contractor who will work for the cheapest price. Did you hear any of that in the sales pitch? The story gets even worse. Once someone accepts the job, the company sends a letter to the DJ reminding them NOT to tell you, the customer that they (the DJ) do not really work for the very company you did business with. They are told not to hand out their own business cards or mention their own company name. They are told to mislead you. Is this legal? Yes. Is it ethical? You decide. One additional thought... Many of these companies are not located in Florida. If you have a problem do you have the time and money to go to Ohio or New York to resolve it? Any legal action you may have to take would need to be handled in another state. Please do yourself a favor, before you hire a DJ, make sure you have all of the pertinent information, not just the sales pitch from the Internet DJ company. |
